Priory
are having a good season after a great first season back in the Premier.
They have lost Wilkinson to Writtle and Robinson who has gone on contrac
tat
Heybridge. but the remaining players along with some additions from
Tiptree United adding to their strength they are pushing on well in the
League and to date have reached the semi finals of the Essex Premier Cup
which is the furthest a Pope and Smith side has been for some time.

Town
Crier have changed their name to Purleigh FC as we are no longer sponsored
by the Town Crier Pub. This will be our 3rd season in the P&S
after joining Div 2 in 01/02 from the Maldon Sunday league. In our 1st
season we won the Div 2 cup and finished 2nd to earn promotion. in our 2nd
season we won the Coward cup (1st Div 1 team to do so, so I am told) and
finished 3rd to earn promotion
Manager
Pete Valentine has had a good summer
and has only lost one player from last season's squad. He has also made
a few shrewd signings this to strengthen up his
side ready for the new season ahead. Renshaw (Ilford) joins
upfront after a long sunday football
absence to replace the retired Scotty Jones.
Jamie
Fisher signs as back up GK after being released from
Southend Utd. John
Barnard signs from Woodham town as they are folding.
There
is also talk Hughes and Radley from
WT could also be on their way
over to Purleigh. There

signings should give us the strength in depth that we have lacked for the
last few seasons and allow us to be a tough side to beat in the
Premier this coming season

Springfield are similar to
Brookhouse and are able to test the top teams but lack consistency with
players away or at University. Mick Robinson still focuses on youth mixed
with experience will look to consolidate their Premier status.

Great
Baddow are managed by terry Hill, a successful side winning the
Essex junior Trophy in the Invitation and then making a succesful
charge to the Premier Division. After a shak start to their
Premier campaign they were able to secure third spot.

2004-2005 has been a busy season,
some major names have left in the past 2 seasons, Peter Monk, Ben Rees, Steve
Johnston, Sean wesley, Nick Cropper, Sean Wesley, Lee Sterland, with a further
12 leaving during the summer. Many clubs would normally fold and some said at
the time it should have happened. there has been a massive change in personell,
and doing it in the Premier Division is not an easy proposition. So far the
players have aquitted themselves well and are learning, but not quick enough and
relegation looks the likley outcome.

Reserves
for 05/06 |
Reserve
Team Manager Wanted |
Chelmer
Valley or another home venue |
|
The current squad have been canvassed as to running a reserve side, the
outcome was that players were keen for this to take place. Strangely with
us starring at relegation we have been turning down players approaches and
also having more than the regulation 5 subs at games. The Club have
approached the Pope & Smith league as to entering a side and will
attend a vetting meeting shortly.
|
It
is important that the Committee appoint the right person to this post,
they will have little to do apart from match day duties and manage the
team on the day. We intend to have a person in place who is looking to get
the best of of the team whilst ensuring that value is added to the first
team. |
We
have been approached with a lucrative offer that would give the club a
Club house facility that is closer to the bulk of players in the south of
Chelmsford. Players were consulted and at present the concensus is that
the facility at Chelmer Valley is the prefered option |

Former Brookhouse "Star" Paul Taylor is organising a Golf day in
the first week of May - please e-mail the club as to booking your place
soon. We need numbers to "push things forward"

The
week after our last league fixture, players and new players and friends
are invited to join eachother at Chelmer Park to play football on Sunday
mornings until pre-season starts in July |
|
|
The
Future |
|
This season has seen Brookhouse re-build, I doubt
any other team in recent times has had so many excellent players leave and
not fold in a two season period. I have worked hard to maintain our league
status and I would not have been successful in keeping this club going ,
without the excellent attitude and conviction of all the new and existing
players. week in week out we have had more than enough players who have
shown loyalty and applied them selves. to rebuild and survive in the
premier division was always going to be difficult. All the players have
committed to 2005/06 and clubs hoping to pick up on the new talents being
brought through Brookhouse will have to wait a while longer. People
may be surprised to see that we are starting a reserve team, but we mean
to build up the squad and with young players keen to join we feel that
giving the odd sub appearance is not supplying players with what they want
and that is games.
Any Reserve team will not see the club go out an poach players from other
clubs but offer players moving from youth football in to the men's game
the opportunity to do so in a fair and well organised environment.
We will also carry on with our policy of recruiting players who may have
moved away from football but now wish to return to the game.
It will be a shame if we are relegated which looks all most certain, as we
will miss the high standards that have been set over the past few seasons,
and pitting our talents against some very strong sides. we have made many
friends in the premier and hopefully with hard work we can get back to
being competitive in this Division in the near future.
If division one is to be there will be some very strong Clubs in there
pushing for promotion, at present Highfild Victoria and Little elms look
set for promotion with Ongar pushing them close. One of the above would
remain with RE social improving and Tillingham looking to build further.
There will also be two good teams coming up from Division two so
things look to be good in division One.
